association for the promotion of emerging artists
In 2007, Ghislaine Picker initiated a project to benefit young – or younger – artists and created the Association for the Promotion of Emerging Artists – aparté. The association’s aim is to use every appropriate means to help emerging artists (particularly visual artists) to introduce themselves and participate in the kind of environments in which they can develop their talent, be it in Switzerland or abroad, particularly by providing support for the publication of monographs, creating links and exchanges with galleries and promotional organisations, compiling documentation, and staging exhibitions. It also organises the aparté Award, in which a leading figure in the art world selects an artist among the candidates and prepares with him/her a monograph that presents the artist’s work. aparté is officially recognized as a public interest association. It is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
